Badger on the web is a companion.

It doesn’t work on its own. If you don’t have Badger on your phone, you can’t run the companion — there’s nothing for it to pair with, and nothing it could show you.

That’s the encryption doing its job rather than a limitation we chose. Your conversations are end-to-end encrypted, and the keys live on your devices — never on our servers. A browser starts out holding none of them, so it has to be let in by a phone that already has them.

What to expect

Sign in on the web with the same account.
Your phone shows a Badger code — type it into the browser to pair.
The companion reads and writes messages, but never publishes your location: your phone owns that.
A newly paired browser starts from the current conversation onward. Older history stays on the devices that already hold its keys.
